3:57 p.m. – Someone in Sutherland Hall reported receiving harassing phone calls. An investigation is pending.

4:34 p.m. – An officer reported suffering an injury while responding to a call at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard.

7:35 p.m. – An elevator repairman released a person who was stuck in Lothrop Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 10

1:11 p.m. – A fire alarm on the seventh floor of the Cathedral of Learning was falsely activated.

3:16 p.m. – A woman reported that her wallet was stolen from Bellefield Hall.

Sunday, Dec. 11

12:46 a.m. – A fire alarm in Bouquet Gardens was activated by the discharge of a fire extinguisher. An investigation is pending.

1:11 a.m. – Someone in Brackenridge Hall reported receiving harassing phone calls. An investigation is pending.

2:14 a.m. – An officer checked on the welfare of a student in Litchfield Tower C. The student later called and said that she was fine.

10:34 a.m. – Someone reported a strange smell in a lab in Benedum Hall. An engineer responded and found an open carbon dioxide line. The line was turned off.

12:25 p.m. – Someone reported a burglary at 305 Atwood St. An investigation is pending.

4:06 p.m. – Someone reported seeing a University vehicle do damage to parking lot gates at the Holiday Inn. An investigation is pending.

7:20 p.m. – A computer protection alarm in Benedum Hall was activated by a loose wire.

7:29 p.m. – Someone in Posvar Hall reported being harassed by a known person. An investigation is pending.

Monday, Dec. 12

12:59 a.m. – A computer protection alarm in David Lawrence Hall was activated by a defective cable.

2:12 p.m. – An officer reported a minor auto accident involving a University vehicle.

3:30 p.m. – Parking enforcement found a stolen car in the O’Hara Garage. Officers verified that the car was stolen and notified the Edgewood Police Department, who had originally reported the car stolen. Edgewood Police then notified the car’s owner.

4:39 p.m. – A staff member accidentally activated an intrusion alarm in the Bellefield Professional Building.

5 p.m. – An officer took a report of a minor accident involving a University shuttle at Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard.

5:56 p.m. – A woman in Sutherland Hall reported being physically harassed by her roommate. An investigation is pending.

6:24 p.m. – A man in Litchfield Tower C reported the theft of his iPod.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

5:53 a.m. – An officer cited a driver at Forbes Avenue and McKee Place for driving with a suspended license.

4:58 p.m. – Someone in Litchfield Tower A reported receiving harassing phone calls. An investigation is pending.

7:01 p.m. – Smoke from a fireplace in the Commons Room of the Cathedral of Learning activated a fire alarm.

9:45 p.m. – A fire alarm in Pennsylvania Hall was activated by a student using a curling iron.

9:51 p.m. – Someone in Sutherland Hall reported receiving harassing phone calls. An investigation is pending.

Wednesday, Dec. 14

1:03 a.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Eric Anthony Mozzetti, of 7 Cold Spring Drive, for open lewdness at the intersection of Sennott Street and Oakland Avenue.

2:17 p.m. – A woman reported receiving harassing phone messages at her off-campus residence on McKee Place. An investigation is pending.

3:44 p.m. – Officers assisted Carlow College Police in a search for robbery suspects in the Terrace Street area.

3:45 p.m. – A man reported that his iPod was stolen from Hillman Library.

9:16 p.m. – A man reported that his resident assistant badge was stolen in Hillman Library.

Thursday, Dec. 15

8:39 a.m. – Someone reported smelling gas in a stairwell in Biomedical Science Tower 3. The smell was found to be sewer gas. An engineer was notified.

3:07 p.m. – Someone in the Cathedral of Learning reported receiving unusual e-mails of a non-criminal nature. An investigation is pending.

3:40 p.m. – Someone in Centre Plaza Apartments reported receiving harassing phone calls. An investigation is pending.

4:29 p.m. – An officer issued a citation for driving with a suspended license at the site of a minor accident at the intersection of Sennott Street and Meyran Avenue.

4:42 p.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Dale Jones, of no fixed address, for disorderly conduct in the Soldiers and Sailors parking lot.

11:16 p.m. – A fire alarm in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house was activated by cooking activities.

11:59 p.m. – Police cited student Michael Doughty, of Drexel Hill, Pa., for underage drinking in Litchfield Tower B.

Friday, Dec. 16

2:06 a.m. – A custodial supervisor reported hearing a scream in a stairwell in Posvar Hall. Police checked the area with negative results.

3:01 a.m. – A water leak in the Music Building activated a fire alarm system.

5:54 a.m. – Non-affiliate Phillip Woods, of Imperial, Pa., was cited for defiant trespass in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

1:14 p.m. – A water leak in the Soldiers and Sailors parking lot activated a fire alarm.

1:58 p.m. – A staff member reported receiving harassing notes at 3518 Fifth Ave. An investigation is pending.

3:47 p.m. – A custodian reported a damaged sanitary napkin machine on the ground floor of the Cathedral of Learning.

4:28 p.m. – Police cited student Michael Intrieri, of Litchfield Tower A, for underage drinking in Bouquet Gardens.

Saturday, Dec. 17

2:19 p.m. – Three cars were cited and towed for parking in a no-parking area on Bigelow Boulevard and Desoto Street.

4:16 p.m. – Police cited and towed a car that was parked illegally on Bigelow Boulevard.

Sunday, Dec. 18

8:13 a.m. – An officer checked the area around the Graduate School of Public Health building for a suspicious truck, which had been parked in the loading dock. The truck was gone before the officer arrived.

4:03 p.m. – A guard in Biomedical Science Tower 3 reported that someone was going through a dumpster. The person was gone by the time officers arrived.

Monday, Dec. 19

7:56 a.m. – A fire alarm in the Law School was activated by an unknown cause.

11:38 a.m. – A parent called the Pitt Police to ask that they check on the welfare of a student who had not returned home. Officers could not find the student. The incident was referred to the student’s hometown police as a missing person entry. The student was later reported to have returned home.

3:44 p.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Puac Hector Manuel Baquiax, of no fixed address, for giving false ID to law enforcement.

11:45 p.m. – An officer cited and towed a vehicle near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard that was parked in a posted area and hindering the flow of traffic.

Tuesday, Dec. 20

12:28 a.m. – A fire alarm in the Law School was activated by a malfunction. An engineer and an electrician were notified.

10:22 a.m. – Someone reported the unauthorized use of a University credit card. An investigation is pending.

3:14 p.m. – An officer found a damaged vending machine in Posvar Hall.

6:14 p.m. – A staff member reported that her car was struck by a school bus at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Bouquet Street. An investigation is pending.

7:44 p.m. – Police cited non-affiliate Anthony Woods, of 3605 Childs St., for defiant trespass in David Lawrence Hall.

Wednesday, Dec. 21

8:53 a.m. – Officers and an engineer searched Sutherland Hall for the source of an odor, but were unable to determine the cause.

10:29 a.m. – A smoke detector in McCormick Hall was falsely activated.

1:19 p.m. – A staff member reported some loose concrete at the Graduate School of Public Health building. Officers assisted in setting up barricades.

2:07 p.m. – A staff member reported that juveniles were tampering with a nationality room display in the Cathedral of Learning.

4 p.m. – A man reported the unauthorized entry of someone else into his car, near the Music Building. Nothing was taken and no damage was noted.

4:45 p.m. – A man reported a theft from his car, which was parked on Bigelow Boulevard near the Cathedral of Learning.

5:19 p.m. – A car was cited and towed from O’Hara Street for parking in an area that was designated no-parking for the basketball game.

5:21 p.m. – Officers assisted city police with an auto accident at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard.

6:52 p.m. – An intrusion alarm in Alumni Hall was activated. An officer checked the area and found it to be secure.

10:51 p.m. – An officer monitored a dispute between two staff members in the Petersen Events Center.

11:14 p.m. – A woman reported that her purse was stolen from the Petersen Events Center.

Thursday, Dec. 22

8:27 a.m. – An officer took a report of a minor auto accident involving University vehicles on the Posvar Hall loading dock apron.

9:50 a.m. – A man reported the theft of his personal digital assistant from Posvar Hall.

2:48 p.m. – A broken pipe flooded part of Sutherland Hall and activated the fire alarm.

3:24 p.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Valerie D. Piner, of 204 Reiter St., on a warrant for burglary.

9:12 p.m. – Officers assisted city police in a search for suspects in a robbery of a business in the 4600 block of Centre Avenue.

9:59 p.m. – An officer reported finding that the front glass of a vending machine in David Lawrence Hall had been removed.

Friday, Dec. 23

1:55 a.m. – Officers assisted city police with crowd control at an incident in the 3600 block of Forbes Avenue.

2:10 a.m. – Police cited student [record expunged Jan. 13 2010], for harassment in the 3900 block of Forbes Avenue.

7:41 a.m. – A heat detector in the boiler room of the Falk School activated the building’s fire alarm system. An engineer was notified.

12:25 p.m. – A leak from a relief valve in the Soldiers and Sailors parking lot activated a fire alarm.

Saturday, Dec. 24

3:47 p.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Richard Doaks, of 7326 Monticello St., on an outstanding warrant, at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Atwood Street.

Sunday, Dec. 25

1:34 a.m. – An officer assisted city police with an auto accident on Bates Street.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

12:54 a.m. – An engineer released a person who was stuck in an elevator in the Chevron Science Center.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

1:29 p.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate John J. Pugliano, of West Mifflin, Pa., on a summons arrest for retail theft.

3:47 p.m. – An officer cited a driver and towed a vehicle at 3501 Fifth Ave., because the vehicle’s registration had been suspended.

11:51 p.m. – Officers assisted city police with the arrest of two suspects in a robbery in the 100 block of Oakland Avenue.
