Someone’s finger was injured in Posvar Hall at 7:39 a.m. A parking attendant backed a vehicle into a pole in the Y Lot at 4:04 p.m.
Saturday, May 17
Nonaffiliate Michael Wisniewski, of 229 Macbeth Dr., was arrested at 2:49 a.m. for driving under the influence. Officers monitored a protest outside Alumni Hall at 12:13 p.m. No incidents were reported. Nonaffiliate Laston Katongo, of 51 Bates St., received a citation at 4:03 p.m. for defiant trespass in a Bouquet Gardens building. Pitt police assisted city police in controlling a fight on the second floor of The Original Hot Dog Shop at 10:10 p.m. At 11:59 p.m., Malachi Handler, of 151 Chesterfield Rd., and nonaffiliate Janice Griffin, of 113 Chesterfield Rd., were cited for public drunkenness or similar misconduct near the Franklin Complex.

An officer found a stairwell door to the fourth floor of a Bouquet Gardens building open at 2:43 a.m. Police received a report of an entrapment in a freight elevator on the main level of the William Pitt Union at 2:16 p.m. A City of Pittsburgh Rescue Unit freed the person through the escape hatch at 4:19 p.m. A vehicle running a red light at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Schenley Drive initated a chase at 9:02 p.m. A shift supervisor ended the pursuit at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Devonshire Road. Police recovered a bag from the seventh floor of Alumni Hall at 9:24 p.m. Police discovered that the bag was a theater prop and returned it.

Nonaffiliate Natalie Gesmond-Easler, of 303 California Ave., was cited for retail theft at the Book Center at 1:58 p.m. While on a walk-through in Clapp Hall, an officer reported a burning smell in G13 at 8:18 p.m. An engineer discovered that a hot plate had been left on.

At 4:27 a.m., Officers assisted city police in gathering additional information about the recent armed robberies on Meyran Avenue and Semple Street.
