Monday, March 24
– Officers responded at 8:33 a.m. to a woman in the William Pitt Union who was having chest pain. Paramedics transported her to UPMC Presbyterian.
– Parking enforcement reported a forged parking permit inside a vehicle in the Music Building parking lot at 8:40 a.m.
– Pitt police received a report at 10:20 a.m. that a room in Litchfield Tower C was burglarized.
– A man was ill on the ground floor of the Cathedral of Learning at 11:23 a.m. Officers located the individual and transported him to Presbyterian.
– On the parking lot at the corner of Bouquet Street and Fifth Avenue at 11:53 a.m., nonstudent Michael Smith, of 7520 Calumet St., was arrested for aggravated assault.
– A woman called at 1:38 p.m. to report that she lost her wallet on a Port Authority Transit bus.
– At 3:33 p.m. in Posvar Hall, a man reported that his digital camera was stolen.
– There was a report of a suspicious package left on the loading dock of the mailroom at 3:55 p.m. An officer and the recipient of the package checked and found the package to be harmless.
– A child pulled a fire alarm on the ground floor of Salk Hall at 4:22 p.m.
– A resident director confiscated drug paraphernalia in Sutherland Hall at 9:58 p.m. The item was placed in evidence.
– In Holland Hall at 11:26 p.m., a woman reported that her ex-roommate was leaving threatening telephone messages.
– Pitt police assisted city police in responding to a simple assault on the 200 block of Bouquet Street at 11:51 p.m.
Tuesday, March 25
– Graffiti was found on the exterior wall of David Lawrence Hall at 8:18 a.m. A Facilities Management request was filed.
– At 12:24 p.m. at Presbyterian, security reported an argument and physical contact between two people in the garage. Security was able to separate them and the parties were referred to the magistrate.
– Cash was reported stolen in the Cathedral from an unsecured area at 1:24 p.m.
– Police received a report from a student in the Union at 3:03 p.m. that he or she was a victim of fraud.
– A fire alarm was set off in the Learning Research and Development Center at 3:53 p.m. because someone burned food in a microwave.
– At 3:56 p.m., police received a report of theft from a mailbox in Tower A.
– A person from a possible bike accident was found in the rear of the Law School at 4:03 p.m. He was transported to Presbyterian by the paramedics.
– At 4:54 p.m. in Lothrop Hall, a woman reported that a man she knows continually tries to gain access to her room. Investigation pending.
– Nonstudent Dennis J. Huber, of 91 S. 22nd St., was arrested for defiant trespass in the Cathedral at 6:26 p.m.
Wednesday, March 26
– Pitt police assisted city police with an arrest for criminal attempt theft at Parkman and Tennyson avenues at 8:18 a.m.
– A person with a foot injury at Bellefield Hall was transported to Student Health Services by a patrol car at 12:59 p.m.
– Pitt police assisted city police with a report of an armed robbery at Bouquet and Dawson streets at 9:09 p.m.
– A man called from the Union at 11:50 p.m. to report that his bicycle was stolen.
Thursday, March 27
– A custodian called from the Chevron Science Center at 3:57 a.m. to report an electrical problem. She said they were washing walls when they hit an electrical socket and sparks flew out of it. The custodian stated on the phone that she could hear a popping sound inside of the wall. An officer said power to that area of the building was then cut and city fire officials checked the area.
