• Pitt professor Michael Morrill will present a talk as part of the University Art Gallery’s “Gallery Talks” at noon in the University Art Gallery of the Frick Fine Arts Building.

• Amnesty International of Pittsburgh is holding its annual Write-A-Thon at Calvary Episcopal Church on the corner of Walnut Street and Shady Avenue at 6:30 p.m. There will be a short slide presentation at 8:00 p.m.

• The women’s basketball team will play Miami at 7 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center.

Friday, Jan. 24

• Pitt professor Nicholas Rescher will give a talk titled “Science and Common Sense” in Room 817R in the Cathedral of Learning at 12:05 p.m.

• In the Fitzgerald Field House at 7 p.m., the gymnastics team will compete against New Hampshire.

Saturday, Jan. 25

• The men’s basketball team will play Georgetown in the Pete at noon.

• In Fitzgerald Field House at 7 p.m. the wrestling team will take on Virginia Tech.

• The women’s basketball team will play the University of Connecticut in the Pete at 7 p.m.

• At noon in Trees Hall, the swimming and diving team will compete against Oakland University.

Monday, Jan. 27

• Pitt professor Aaron Sheon will present a talk titled “Reception Theory and Aura: Some New Research on Perception of Works of Art” in Room 203 of the Frick Fine Arts Building at noon.

• Xavier Bougarel will present a lecture titled “Islam and Politics in Southeastern Europe” in 4E51 Posvar Hall at noon.

• In the William Pitt Union Assembly Room at noon there will be an update on immigration laws in a town meeting with the Office of International Services.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

• There will be a talk presented by Daniela Bailer-Jones titled “Representation in Scientific Modeling” in Room 817R Cathedral of Learning at 12:05 p.m.

• At 8:45 p.m. in the Union’s Assembly Room, the film “Cry Freedom” will be showed.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

• Pitt professor Lauren Friedman will present a talk as part of the “Gallery Series” in the University Art Gallery of the Frick Fine Arts Building at noon.
