The University Center for International Studies will host a lecture on “September 2002 Elections in Slovakia” from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in Room 4E51 Posvar Hall.

The University Center for Philosophy of Science will host a lunchtime talk with Janneke van Lith of the Netherlands’ Utrecht University, in Room 817R at 12:05 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m., the Delta Theta Phi will host a presentation by Precise Presentations of “computer-aided litigation support” in Room 107 of the Law School.

Pitt’s Center for Bioethics and Health Law will sponsor the Mark A. Nordenberg Lecture in Law in Psychology, presented by Jennifer S. Baird, in “The Insanity Defense in the 21st Century,” from noon to 1 p.m. in the ground floor courtroom of the Law School.

The University Center for Philosophy of Science will host a lunchtime talk with Drakoulis Nikolinakos of the University of Athens, Greece, in Room 817R at 12:05 p.m.

The Carnegie Museum of Art film series will screen “Lily Festival,” a Japanese erotic fantasy by Sachi Hamano, at 7:30 p.m. in the Museum of Art Theatre. Hamano will be present for the Friday screening. There will also be a showing on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. Both showings are free with a Pitt ID, and $5 or $6 for nonstudents.

Saturday, Oct. 19

The Carnegie Museum of Art film series will screen “Lifeboat,” a collaboration of John Steinbeck and Alfred Hitchcock, at 1:30 p.m. in the Museum of Art Theatre. The showing is free with a Pitt ID, $3 with a museum admission receipt, and $5 or $6 for nonstudents.

The women’s soccer team will play Virginia Commonwealth University at 1 p.m. at Founders Field.

Roctober Fest will feature five bands in a free show on the William Pitt Union porch. Bands include Lexus Jumps, Heavy Depth Perception, P.U.M.A., harod, Unsewn and The Booginz. The show starts at 6 p.m. and will run to 11 p.m., with the Lower Lounge serving as the rain venue.

Monday, Oct. 21

Pitt Program Council and Campus Women’s Organization will hold an art exhibit in the Conney M. Kimbo Gallery of the William Pitt Union until Saturday, Oct. 26.
