But isn’t being scared halfway to the point where your hair turns white part of Halloween fun?

At Triple B Farms in Monongahela, Pa., a twisting and turning cornfield maze awaits you. Built by Maize Quest, this year’s theme is “The Pirate Ship Conquest.” From far above, the maze design reveals a pirate ship whose mast appropriately displays the familiar skull and crossbones.

The goal is to find buried treasure and capture nine flags while navigating 10,000 feet of trails. Before entering the labyrinth, challengers will be briefed about it and pick up a game sheet with the pirate storyline. Throughout the cornfield, helpful suggestions will help adventurers plot a map – no one wants to be stuck in a cornfield forever, do they?

Fridays and Saturdays this month are flashlight nights. Although the maze opens at 10 a.m., beginning at 6 p.m., visitors may use their own flashlights as they journey their way through. If “Children of the Corn” really scared you, go during the day. Braver folks – go at night, and skip the flashlight if you dare.

There is nothing wrong with being scared out of your wits and getting into the Halloween spirit a little early, especially when the price is $5.
