Ads tying drugs and terrorism could backfire

Perhaps the part of the Super Bowl to which people pay the most attention is the… Perhaps the part of the Super Bowl to which people pay the most attention is the commercials. Every year, Madison Avenue rolls out its best for commercials in this coveted time slot. Perhaps in no other time will an advertiser have such a captive audience for its product.

Often, a new series of ads will come out during the Super Bowl. This year, the Office of National Drug Control Policy chose Super Bowl Sunday to unveil its new series to add a terrorism dimension to the so-called War on Drugs.

These rather well done commercials show the faces of young people with alternating messages about the seeming harmlessness of drugs and speaking about terrorism. According to the ONDCP
