Feb. 19: Black Action Society will hold a bone marrow and blood drive… News
Feb. 19: Black Action Society will hold a bone marrow and blood drive as part of its service project. The drive will be held in the William Pitt Union’s Kurtzman Room from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Feb. 19: The School of Education will host the Teaching Careers Information Session from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Kurtzman Room of the William Pitt Union. Interested students can learn about prerequisites, certification and graduate degrees in elementary, secondary and special education. Two panel discussions will also be held: one at 2 p.m., and one at 6 p.m. For more information, contact the College of General Studies at (412) 624-6600.
Feb. 21: Pitt’s Campus Women’s Organization presents poet Jackie Kay in Room 501 of the Cathedral of Learning. Kay will speak at 8:15 p.m.
Feb 21: Black Action Society hosts the Black Consciousness Bowl in the Graduate School of Public Health Auditorium at 8:30 p.m.
Feb. 21: Pitt’s Repertory Theater presents the opening night of “The Serpent,” by Jean-Claude van Itallie, at 8 p.m. in the Stephen Foster Memorial building. The performance will run through March 3. Admission is $12, and the play will be performed Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Feb. 22: The Campus Women’s Organization presents poet Ma Vie en Rose as part of its Film and Food Festival in Room 901 of the Cathedral of Learning at noon.

Feb. 23: Holly Hughes performs “Preaching to the Perverted,” at the Andy Warhol Museum. The piece examines “the dark side of democracy” and challenges issues of free speech. Part of the Warhol’s “Off the Wall’ series of performance art, Hughes’ performance takes place at 8 p.m., tickets are $15, $10 for students. Call the museum at (412) 237-8300 for more information.
Feb. 22: As part of the Warhol’s Good Fridays, which last from 5 to 10 p.m. and feature a cash bar, free gallery admission and special programs, a special reading from Andy Warhol’s diaries will take place. Starting at 7 p.m., and in honor of the 15th anniversary of Warhol’s death, local personalities will read from the artist’s diaries. Readers will include Warhol director Thomas Sokolowski, John Allison of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, performer Dean Novotny, actress and producer Adrienne Wehr and writer, critic and curator Graham Shearing.
