Cherry Pitt Literary Magazine prepares for spring 2022 launch

Cherry Pitt, a new Pitt literary magazine for undergraduates, meets on Thursday nights in the Cathedral of Learning and anyone is welcome to join. Submissions are exclusive to undergraduate students interested in writing fiction, nonfiction, poetry or visual art.
In partnership with the August Wilson House, the University Library System at Pitt’s Hillman Library is the first stop of an exhibit showcasing new and original artwork created by ten local Pittsburgh artists.

‘Art for August’ traveling art exhibit celebrates playwright’s legacy

Pittsburgh playwright August Wilson may have passed away in 2005, but the Hill District native left a strong legacy — which the “Art for August” traveling exhibit is helping keep alive.
An ofrenda for Día de los Muertos and Día de los Santos set up by Pitt’s Center for Latin American Studies in Posvar Hall’s Global Hub on Friday. The ofrenda will stay up until Nov. 3.

Student musicians find solace in local music scene

Sharif Bey’s artwork was influenced by where it is now displayed — the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History. Titled “Sharif Bey — Excavations,” the exhibition opened on Oct. 2 and is part of the museum’s rotating exhibitions.
