The compensation committee of the Board of Trustees met Friday afternoon to approve the salary for the new senior vice chancellor for business and operations.

Board approves pandemic appreciation resolution, DeJong as business & operations chief

Pitt’s Board of Trustees took several actions at its Friday morning meeting, including approval of a resolution expressing appreciation for all the Pitt community has done to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Dawne Hickton, the chair of the Board’s Ad-hoc Committee on Fossil Fuels, said the committee found that fossil fuel investments will pose a “higher risk” in the future.

Student Government Board slammed a report released last Friday by a Board of Trustees committee which advocated for a gradual divestment from fossil fuels. SGB President Eric Macadangdang, along with the other board members, supports immediate divestment.

The fifth annual Pitt Day of Giving — a 24-hour fundraising initiative — took place all day Tuesday. This year’s PDoG raised about $2.49 million, as of Wednesday at 2 a.m. — up about 51% from last year’s event, which raised $1.65 million.

Pitt added 15 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 13 students and two employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 24 students currently in isolation. The University’s previous case report, covering last Friday to Monday, included 15 cases.
