Pitt is splitting senior administrator Kenyon Bonner’s role as vice provost and dean of students into two separate jobs, the University announced Friday afternoon.
Student Government Board and the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion hosted a panel Thursday evening titled “What the F*ck? Unfiltered Conversations About Diversity and Inclusion Between Students, Staff and Administration.”

Pitt’s Office of Admissions and Financial Aid announced Wednesday afternoon that it extended its ACT and SAT test-optional policy through fall 2023 for first-year applicants in all programs, majors, schools and colleges.
Pitt said roughly 4,800 students have moved into University housing for the spring semester as of Monday. These residents were grouped into one of four move-in dates — Jan. 29, Jan. 31, last Wednesday or last Friday.

Pitt adds 16 COVID-19 cases since Tuesday

Pitt added 16 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 15 students and one employee, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 19 students currently in isolation. The University’s previous case report, covering last Friday to Monday, included 11 cases.
The Graduate Student Organizing Committee released a petition — addressed to Provost Ann Cudd, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher and the Board of Trustees — that asked Pitt’s administration to grant every funded graduate student the option of a one-year funding extension. It also calls for extra support for students who are parents or those struggling with housing, assistance for international students in navigating visa issues and more mental health services.

Grad union organizers criticize lack of no-questions-asked funding extension amid pandemic

The Graduate Student Organizing Committee is criticizing the University’s refusal to grant a no-questions-asked funding extension to graduate students amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Pitt is offering funding on a case-by-case basis, but didn’t respond to requests for comment on the specifics of the application.

Quintin Eason, the vice president of operations for Compass Group, said at SGB’s Tuesday meeting that there are plans in the works for a food delivery program with bikes as well as a grocery delivery program to students’ dorm rooms.

Numerous pharmacy students at Pitt have used a new state rule to administer vaccines at UPMC hospitals and clinics, including one Pitt hosted last week that vaccinated 800 health care professionals across Pittsburgh.
