Pitt women’s soccer drops first ACC match 2-0 to Clemson Tigers

Pitt women’s soccer (7-2-0, 0-1-0 ACC) started a three-game road trip Thursday with a visit to Clemson (6-2-0, 1-0-0 ACC), where they fell to the Tigers 2-0. The match kicked off both the Panthers’ and the Tigers’ ACC schedules after they finished 7-1 and 5-2 in non-conference play respectively.

It had been nearly two years since the last time fans packed the bleachers at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Prior to the 2021 season, Pitt athletics announced that after a COVID-19-induced hiatus, spectators would be once again allowed to watch a live sporting event on Pitt’s upper campus.

On the heels of a statement victory to open conference play, No. 15 Pitt Men’s Soccer traveled to Happy Valley for a non-conference contest against rival Penn State on Monday night, and defeated the Nittany Lions 1-0.
