Pitt’s dining contractor, Compass Group, is planning to bring more diverse menu options and let students serve themselves at the dining halls, rather than being pre-packaged meals like last year. Students can also expect two new dining options in the WPU.

The University allocated 25% of each student's dining dollars to 27 off-campus dining locations around the Oakland area under its new meal plans at the start of last semester. The vendors include Fuel and Fuddle, CHiKN, The Porch at Schenley and many more.

Quintin Eason, the vice president of operations for Compass Group, said at SGB’s Tuesday meeting that there are plans in the works for a food delivery program with bikes as well as a grocery delivery program to students’ dorm rooms.
Pitt opened 25% of available seating in The Eatery at Market Central, The Perch, Einstein Bros. Bagels in Benedum and Posvar, Schenley Cafe, Cathedral Cafe and the Petersen Events Center Food Court last Monday.

Some of the Pitt community’s smallest pedestrians are missing this semester — the Starship Technologies food delivery robots. The robots, which became a part of campus culture, provided a meal option right outside students’ doors.
The Hub, on the back patio of Posvar Hall, is a new, temporary outdoor dining location that opened Aug. 17.

SGB — which consists of nine elected board members, as well as many appointed committee members — is the governing body of the roughly 18,000 undergraduate students at Pitt.
The University’s current dining contract with Sodexo will expire this summer with a new contract starting July 1. Planning for the contract transition to a new vendor or renewal with Sodexo would take place between March and July.
