Pitt added 112 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 90 students and 22 employees, between Nov. 23 and Thursday, with two students currently in isolation.
The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation’s monthly Oakwatch meeting included two featured speakers from Pitt — Kenyon Bonner, vice provost and dean of students, and Paul Supowitz, vice chancellor for community and governmental relations.

More than 300 students have received code of conduct violations for breaking COVID-19 mitigation protocols this semester, according to Vice Provost and Dean of Students Kenyon Bonner.
Pitt enacted a shelter-in-place period last Thursday — three days earlier than previously scheduled — after a ‘significant’ increase in COVID-19 cases following Halloween weekend.

First-generation students work to make best of fall semester, despite pandemic

Without the same background knowledge of college that their peers may have, first-generation college students face distinct challenges, such as the college application process, financial difficulties and the adjustment to college life.

According to Pitt’s fall 2020 final exam schedule, 16 classes — mainly chemistry, economics and statistics classes — are allowed to have in-person final exams on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24, and web-based classes will have finals from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.
