As the end of the first full academic year with COVID-19 comes to a close, many Pitt students are preparing for upcoming finals and sharing their thoughts on this year's primarily virtual learning experience.

More than 3,300 visitors tour campus amid shelter-in-place

Pitt Pathfinders — the student tour guides who help recruit prospective undergraduate students — hosted 3,350 visitors in one month for modified in-person tours. But not everyone — especially current students — is happy about the tours restarting.
The film “CHASING COVID” follows the work of Dr. Paul Duprex and his team in Pitt’s Center for Vaccine Research, where they have been working to uncover new information about COVID-19.

The “CHASING COVID” film, which premiered April 12 — the 66th anniversary of Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine, developed at Pitt — follows the work of Dr. Paul Duprex.

Pitt enacted shelter-in-place guidelines on March 31 in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases among students, which included the closure of study spaces in residence halls and lounges and decreased library operating hours.

Pitt adds 31 COVID-19 cases since Tuesday, offers new testing times

Pitt added 31 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 27 students and four employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 71 students currently in isolation. The University’s previous case report, covering last Friday to Monday, included 25 cases.
During Wednesday’s Faculty Assembly meeting, President Chris Bonneau introduced a resolution for Pitt to make vaccination a requirement and to ensure equal vaccination opportunities for students.

Faculty Assembly discusses required vaccination proposal, possible new budget model

All students should be required to have a COVID-19 vaccination to participate in on-campus activities next fall, according to a proposal introduced at Wednesday’s Faculty Assembly meeting. No formal vote was given on this resolution at the meeting.
