Student-run news channel seeks to connect Chinese international students with Pitt

Since Yitian Wang founded Pitt-China Weekly this February, the news channel is making the nearly 7,000-mile distance from Pitt to China feel a little shorter for Chinese international students and their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pitt Hillel distributed meals to University students on Friday during Passover as part of Shabbat, while following shelter-in-place/social distancing guidelines.

The COVID Concern Connection system — which gives the Pitt community an anonymous way to share concerns — has received more than 1,300 reports this year. But some students are not satisfied with this reporting system.
Thirsty Scholar Bar & Grille is located on Fifth Avenue. According to manager JoAnne Chizmar, Thirsty Scholar originally opened in-person dining in August, then shut down in December and reopened on Jan. 13.

Melissa McGivney — a professor and associate dean for community partnerships at the School of Pharmacy — helped coordinate COVID-19 vaccine clinics this year.
According to the two latest updates from the COVID-19 Medical Response Office, Pitt recorded a combined 97 new student cases between March 30 and April 5, a significant increase in the virus’ prevalence on campus this semester.
