Pitt (5-3, 2-2 ACC) will look to do just that this week on the road against Georgia Tech (2-5, 1-3 ACC). The Panthers are fresh off a deflating 16-12 loss to Miami and need every win they can get to secure the Coastal division title once more. Meanwhile, despite a lost season, the Yellow Jackets will be well rested after a bye and looking to play spoiler again after upsetting Miami two weeks ago.

The past week surrounding Pitt football had been filled with hope and optimism. Talk of New Year’s Six bowls and double-digit wins filled the thoughts, Twitter posts and column inches of spectators and fans. But ominous clouds on Saturday foreshadowed the foggy future that now remains for Pitt following its deflating 16-12 loss to Miami this weekend.

The historic part was on the sidelines, where for the first time at a Pitt Homecoming game, four female cheerleaders yelled and jumped in school spirit alongside four of their male classmates. Or as the University’s 1955 yearbook put it, “for the first time in Pitt’s one hundred and sixty-eight years, the provocative forms of women cheerleaders joined the male line of excited pep-rousers.”
Kenny Pickett has topped the 200-yard mark in every game but one this season.
