Following a convincing home victory on Friday night, No. 3 Pitt men’s soccer suffered its second loss of the season on Monday night. The Panthers fell on the road, 2-1, to the No. 19 Akron Zips.

Following an upset loss to a seasoned West Virginia squad in Morgantown, No. 3 Pitt men’s soccer convincingly regained form in a 2-1 win over Lehigh in front of a packed home crowd Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Now that Panther fans can return to the stands, there are a few dates that they should circle from multiple sports, such as men’s and women’s soccer.

Tracking marquee matchups of the fall semester for Pitt athletics

Pitt athletics announced two weeks ago that they would hold on-campus events without attendance restrictions this fall. Now that Panther fans can return to the stands, there are a few dates they should circle. Some of the best in the country at their respective sports are traveling to Oakland this semester, and Pitt’s venues will host some high-leverage matchups.

Men’s soccer clinches Coastal division with 5-0 win over UVA

When Jay Vidovich took over as the head men’s soccer coach at Pitt five seasons ago, the team had not yet won an ACC game. The top-ranked Panthers defeated Virginia 5-0 on Thursday night to clinch the ACC Coastal division title.
Pitt star forward Amanda West was named ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Panthers’ final game of the regular season against Kentucky.

Senior Blaise Vera earned First-team All-American honors with his performance in the 50-yard freestyle. He finished in seventh place, earning his team 12 points.

Weekend Sports Recap: Swimming earns victories at NCAA Championships

A double overtime win for men’s soccer and multiple top-10 placements for track and field highlighted this weekend of Pitt sports. Panthers swimming and diving also concluded its season with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
Senior Felix Wolter finished in fourth place in the men’s heptathlon with a final score of 5907 in the NCAA track and field indoor championships this weekend, earning him first team All-American honors.

Men’s heptathlon highlights busy weekend of Pitt sports

Track and field’s Felix Wolter and Greg Lauray headlined this weekend of Pitt athletics, each of them earning All-American titles for their performances in the heptathlon and the high jump, respectively. Elsewhere, Pitt baseball took part in multiple slugfests against West Virginia, and Pitt gymnastics split a series against West Virginia.
Pitt wrestling fell to Virginia Tech 27-12, finishing the shortened season at 3-4 overall and 1-4 in conference.
