The Pitt men’s basketball team kicked off its season in dominant fashion Thursday night, beating the branch-campus Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats 78-59 in an exhibition opener at the Petersen Events Center.

Pitt Athletic Director Heather Lyke announced the addition of the women’s lacrosse team on Thursday, its first season will be in spring 2022. Pitt’s last varsity sports addition was over 20 years ago when women’s softball was added in 1998.
