Moore to leave Pitt men’s basketball team, transfer
April 28, 2013
Turnover on college basketball rosters across the nation is certainly expected.Graduation forces a new wave of players to take over a program and build their own legacy.
But for the Pitt men’s basketball team, the turnover numbers are starting to add up.
Junior forward J.J. Moore announced yesterday that he is leaving the program and plans to transfer. On April 2, junior guard Trey Zeigler announced that he planned to transfer after transferring to Pitt from Central Michigan before the 2012-2013 season. On the same day, freshman center Steven Adams declared for the NBA draft.
Moore has one year of eligibility remaining, following the 2013-2014 season in which he will have to sit out.
The moves leaves the already small Panthers lineup in need of contribution at the forward spot from a host of players including senior power forward Talib Zanna, incoming freshman Mike Young and any additional spring signees.
With the Moore departure, Pitt coach Jamie Dixon now has five open scholarships available for next season.
