Panthers of the Week
October 10, 2012
Alonzo Webb, cross country— The longtime coach of both Pitt’s cross country and track and field programs has helped guide his cross-country athletes to a strong start this year. Both the men’s and the women’s teams have won one meet and placed second in another, with the women also grabbing runner-up in their third.
Dan Mason, football — After sitting out all of last season and almost all of the 2010 campaign recovering from a gruesome injury to his right leg, the redshirt junior linebacker has played a limited role in games this season but continues to be featured more as the season progresses.
Roosa Arvas, women’s soccer — The freshman from Finland leads her team in points (13) and assists (7) in addition to being second on the team in goals, with three. Two of those goals came against St. John’s last Sunday and helped the Panthers (5-10-2, 0-5-2 Big East) salvage a tie for their second result of conference play.
