At about 10 p.m., Pitt police checked the residence in Shadyside and found nothing suspicious, according to the department’s media log. The threat, the 58th of the semester made to a Pitt building, came after more than 24 hours without one. The 57th threat was received Monday afternoon.

Pitt spokesman Robert Hill said the threat to Chancellor Mark Nordenberg was a personal one and is under investigation. He said that the University is still offering the $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and declined further comment.

Early Wednesday morning, Pitt evacuated five dormitories and University-owned apartments because of threats, bringing the semester total up to 63.
