Vice President Joe Biden will speak… Vice President Joe Biden will speak on Pitt’s campus on Friday.

Biden will give the speech in the Connolly Ballroom of Alumni Hall at some point after 11 a.m. Friday. According to an email sent to student groups Wednesday, the vice president will be presenting a speech to students and faculty of the “local education community.”

The vice president’s press office could not yet confirm the details of the event or whether the speech at Pitt would be Biden’s only stop in Pittsburgh on Friday.

According to the email, originally from Kenyon Bonner, the director of Student Life and associate dean of students, the ticketed event will be open to students, faculty and members of the community. Bonner’s email said people can pick up tickets at the William Pitt Union Ticket Office Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

Guests were asked in the email to arrive between 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday.

Bonner said that he did not know the number of tickets yet that would be available to the public but that he would likely find out later Wednesday. He did not know if anyone else would be speaking at the event.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party press office confirmed that the event is an official White House visit.
