UPDATED: Earthquake felt on Pitt’s campus in Oakland

People on Pitt’s campus felt a 5.9 magnitude UPDATED 2:35 p.m.

People on Pitt’s campus felt a 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered in Virginia shortly before 2 p.m.

Pitt spokesman John Fedele said at 2:30 p.m. that no one had reported any injuries and no one had reported any damage to University buildings.

He said that people had voluntarily evacuated buildings after the quake. He said he did not know whether demolition would continue on the University Place office building. The machine which had been working to tear down the structure through the past two days has been still since 2 p.m.
