The University named Eugene “Gene” Anderson as the new Henry E. Haller Jr. Dean to lead the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration on Thursday. He will assume this position as of Aug. 1, and will also join Pitt faculty as a full professor.

Anderson succeeds Arjang Assad as the new dean of the business school. Assad has served as dean since 2015, and announced his return to faculty last September.

Anderson previously served as dean of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University since 2017. He also served as dean of the University of Miami Herbert Business School for five years prior to that role, according to provost and senior vice chancellor Ann Cudd.

“Gene’s strong strategic leadership and commitment to serving and advocating for students, faculty, and the broader community make him an excellent fit for our University and for Katz and the College of Business Administration,” Cudd said in the University’s announcement.
