Pitt’s Rachael McIntosh was selected to the Canadian national track and field team and… Pitt’s Rachael McIntosh was selected to the Canadian national track and field team and will compete in her home country against the rest of the world.

The Nova Scotia native will take part in the heptathlon for team Canada the World Junior Track and Field championships on July 19-25 in Moncton, New Brunswick. McIntosh scored 4,938 in the heptathlon during the Canadian trials early this month and earned a spot on the 60 person team. In total, nearly 2,000 athletes from 180 countries are expected to participate.

McIntosh just finished her freshman year at Pitt where she recieved an invitation to the NCAA Regional Championships and was ranked in the top 25 of the East Region.

The heptathlon is a unique event becase it takes place over two days. The first day consists of the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and the 200. Day two features the long jump, javelin and the 800.
