Kevin Evanto, a spokesman for County Executive Dan Onorato, said in a news release this afternoon that the county fully staffed its Emergency Operations Center, which handles 911 phone calls, and pulled out extra plows to deal with the 6 to 10 inches of snow meteorologists think will hit Pittsburgh today and tomorrow.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory, which will remain in affect until at least 7 p.m. tomorrow.

County road crews began round-the-clock staffing at 12:30 p.m. today, Evanto said. County employees will run 51 large- and medium-sized plows and salt trucks, eight high-lift loaders and five backhoes during the storm.

The Community College of Allegheny County will remain closed tomorrow.

Pitt has not yet announced its plans for tomorrow.

About 8,300 county residents remain without power, which they lost during this weekend’s storm.
