Proposed last week, the resolution requires a member of each student organization with a funding request to attend an SGB meeting during which the request will be reviewed.
Board member Phil LaRue said the resolution will enhance the transparency of the allocations process.
“A lot of student organizations have stayed to see how all of the requests are decided upon,” he said, “and you get a better understanding of how the allocations process takes place here.”
LaRue said the resolution helps the Board function by giving it the ability to ask students from the organizations specific questions about their request.
Board President Charlie Shull said he received 31 committee chair applications this year — an increase from about 10 applicants last year.
“I take that as a measurable success of Student Government Board, for the amount of work that we’re doing so far in getting our name out to students,” Shull said.
