“Dorothy” production to change venues

Like Dorothy getting swept up by a cyclone and being transplanted to a new and exciting… Like Dorothy getting swept up by a cyclone and being transplanted to a new and exciting location, so will the production of The Rage of the Stage Players’ “Dorothy in Oz” find itself in a new place before its delayed premiere on Thursday evening.
Formerly taking the stage at The Brew House on Mary Street in the South Side, the production will now open at the Open Stage Theater on Smallman Street, also in the South Side.
According to The Brew House’s official website, the Brew House Association received a notice from the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Building Inspection citing various code violations, subsequently forcing the “Dorothy” production to change venues two days before it was originally slated to open.
The play, which concerns a particularly twisted psychological take on “The Wizard of Oz,” will run from Sept. 17 to 19 and from Sept. 24 to 26.
A news release from The Rage of the Stage Players stated that the show will not suffer from the last-minute change, and audiences can still expect a “dark/adult-oriented fairy tale.”
