University officials decided to cancel Thursday evening classes this week because of a G-20… University officials decided to cancel Thursday evening classes this week because of a G-20 event to be held in Oakland.
John Cooper, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, sent an e-mail to department heads and administrators Friday afternoon canceling all classes on the Oakland campus that begin at or after 4 p.m. Thursday because of “traffic concerns” related to the G-20 Summit. The University will return to a normal schedule Friday, Cooper said.
President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will host a working dinner with other heads of state at Phipps Conservatory Thursday night.
The Frick Fine Arts Building will close at the end of its last evening class on Wednesday and re-open at 7 a.m. Friday because of security restrictions related to the Obamas’ dinner.
