Students wait outside Cathedral to greet Medvedev

A crowd of about 100 students sat around, stood around, and played around on the sidewalks near… A crowd of about 100 students sat around, stood around, and played around on the sidewalks near the Cathedral of Learning this evening – all waiting for Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to conclude his talk in the Cathedral Commons Room and make his appearance outside.

Pitt freshmen Sarah Kelly and Sara Labe sat on the pavement, eyes focused on the white tents and armed guards that decorated the Cathedral lawn.

“We just kinda wanna see if anything is gonna happen,” Labe said. “But if it takes too long, I am not staying.”

Kelly’s brother, Pitt senior Josh Kelly, received the invitation to Medvedev’s talk, which is currently taking place inside the Cathedral Commons Room
