To the Editor, ‘ ‘ ‘ This e-mail is in response to your editorial regarding Pitt Program… To the Editor, ‘ ‘ ‘ This e-mail is in response to your editorial regarding Pitt Program Council and the group’s executive director JJ Abbott. Though the article contradicts itself several times ‘mdash; stating that ‘students have no power to influence the final decision process’ but still can ‘go to PPC’s meetings and give input’ on PPC events and lectures ‘mdash; I feel that your opinions of the PPC executive director’s position are unnecessary given the reputation and history of Pitt Program Council. ‘ ‘ ‘ The position of executive director is carefully assigned to a student with experience and involvement with PPC and Pitt students. Opening up the decision ‘democratically’ will most likely cause incompetent students with little experience to take over the responsibility of using nearly three quarters of $1 million of the Student Activities Fund. PPC has continually provided quality events that are popular among students. In my four years at Pitt, I’ve never heard anyone complain of its events, programs or lectures.
