MLB The Oakland Athletics acquired left fielder Matt Holliday from the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, according to ESPN.com. Pending passed physicals, Colorado will receive starting pitcher Greg Smith, reliever Huston Street and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez in return. Major League Baseball announced that San Francisco pitcher Tim Lincecum won the National League Cy Young award following an 18-5 season with the Giants. Former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Preacher Roe died on Sunday at the age of 92, according to the Chicago Tribune. Roe amassed 127 wins and a 3.43 ERA in his 12-year career that included stops with the Cardinals, Pirates and Dodgers.
