Cross country starting up

‘ ‘ ‘ In week two of the season, Pitt’s men’s and women’s cross country teams placed in the top… ‘ ‘ ‘ In week two of the season, Pitt’s men’s and women’s cross country teams placed in the top 10 at the Fordham Invitational in New York City this weekend.’ ‘ ‘ ‘ With Greg Kareis, Teddy Miller and Josh Christopher finishing in the top 25, the men placed fifth out of 16 teams. ‘ ‘ ‘ The freshman Kareis paced Pitt’s men’s squad, finishing in a time of 27:08.69. That was good for ninth place overall. ‘ ‘ ‘ Miller took 15th place individually, while Christopher ended in 22nd position. ‘ ‘ ‘ The women’s team grabbed a top-half placement as well in New York. ‘ ‘ ‘ Competing against 233 runners, seniors Ali Briggs and Monica Bhattacharjee both finished in the top 60. ‘ ‘ ‘ This resulted in a ninth-place finish out of 20 teams for the female Panthers. ‘ ‘ ‘ Briggs captured 34th place, running a time of 20:06.70. ‘ ‘ ‘ Bhattacharjee then went on to follow her teammate with a 58th place finish at 20:50.02.’ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Both Panther teams are off next week. ‘ ‘ ‘ Pitt springs back into action at the Cappy Anderson Invite Sept. 20 in Princess Ann, Md.
