Pitt earned an early lead against Ohio when Jordan Herr hit a leadoff home run to put Pitt up, 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, however, Ohio came back to score three runs, taking a lead it would carry for the rest of the game.

Pitt steadily racked up runs, scoring one run in each of the first three innings and scoring six in the final six innings.

But, this wasn’t much of a defensive outing.

Ohio gathered 16 of their 17 runs in the first six innings.

Pitt starter Kevin Dooley allowed the majority of Ohio’s offensive attack. Dooley gave up seven earned runs and eight hits in his three innings while striking out only two.

Reliever Hugh Henry didn’t have much better luck as he allowed four runs on six hits in his two innings, before Anthony Rossi took over the mound and gave up three runs on four hits in two innings.

Nate Reed finished out the game by striking out two batters in his one innings as he allowed one run on three hits.

Catcher Nick Mullins, third baseman Joe Leonard and second baseman Dan Williams each hit doubles for Pitt.

Left fielder Sean Conley had a strong performance with three RBIs gathering three hits in his six at bats.

Pitt collected a total of 13 hits and 12 men left on base in the game.

The Panthers rebounded Wednesday with a 17-6 triumph over city rival Duquesne at PNC Park.

David Kaye picked up the win after relieving starter Mike Wood. Kaye only gave up one hit in 4 1/3 innings.

Pitt collected 16 hits, with Phil Konieczny driving in five runs to go along with four hits to lead the team.

Five other Panthers recorded two hits in the comeback win.
