Student Government Board members Zach Ransom and Joe Pasqualichio confirmed that they will run… Student Government Board members Zach Ransom and Joe Pasqualichio confirmed that they will run for president of the board in November.

“I feel that I would better serve the students as president,” Ransom said. “I want to continue the work I’ve begun, including getting more money for [the] student activities funds,” Ransom said in an interview after Tuesday’s SGB meeting.

Two-term President Brian Kelly is not seeking re-election.

Board member Jennifer Anukem said that she is considering extending her term as a board member.

“We’ve accomplished a lot this year, but there is room for improvement,” she said. “I can see myself being an active board member in the future.”

Kelly supported an Anukem re-election campaign.

“She’s a young, bright leader on this campus,” he said.

In other SGB news, the board appointed Michelle Turbanic as the new allocations chair Tuesday.

“I think I speak for everyone on the board when I say that we are excited about Michelle’s appointment,” board member Monica Higgins said.

Two members from the internal allocations committee applied for the vacant chair and interviewed with the board last Tuesday. A decision was made immediately following the interviews.

Board member Dilinus Harris agreed with Higgins.

“It was a hard decision,” he said. “Both candidates were very qualified. Michelle’s organizational skills stood out and she’s done a great job.”

SGB has been working on a system that will allow organizations to submit allocations requests online.

“The process will be more efficient,” Kelly said. “It will cut down on paperwork, lost requests and hopefully be faster.”

After a summer of requests piling up, Turbanic now has to sort through and organize them for the school year.

“It has been a lot of work, but I have a good committee that has really stepped up,” Turbanic said. “We are back on schedule from the summer.”
