The former Panther football player, who is now facing murder charges in Ohio, received his official court date at a pretrial in Stark County, Ohio, Thursday.

Walker has not yet issued a plea. He was arraigned on Sept. 2. His trial is set for Oct. 24, at 9 a.m.

Walker, 19, is accused of shooting and killing Michael Cheek, 17, after an argument at a gas station in Canton, Ohio. He is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

After a promising run in high school football, Walker received a scholarship to play at Pitt in the fall of 2004, but after four months on the roster — and no playing time — Walker was dismissed in December.

Police said that Cheek was running to his car when he was shot. He died of massive blood loss.

Wayne Graham, Jr. is representing Walker.
