It is composed of Jacki Demspy on the accordion, Sara Siptak on vocals and viola, Erin Hutter on violin, Dave Wallance on guitar and vocals, Greg Siston on drums, Eric Graf on vocals and guitar, TR Daddirio on bass and Paul Labrise on piano and organ.

After their debut release, The Faces All Look On (off of Chicago-based Overcoat records), they received critical acclaim not only throughout the States but on their release through Homesleep Records in Europe as well. They have opened up for such bands as Wilco and My Morning Jacket, and took part in Farm Aid in 2002. They have toured all over the Northeast and are building a solid fan base for themselves. They continued to release an EP By Now Even Trees in September of 2003.

Now with the recent release of their second full-length effort, Backroads, they plan on exposing their work along with their light melodic combination of guy and girl vocals. Their music weaves back and forth in an intriguing arrangement of all the instruments, and the sounds this octet presents may seem overbearing. However, it fuses together beautifully.

If you are looking for something laid-back and different from the mainstream, Boxstep has the fun and instrumentations of bluegrass with folk-like songwriting abilities and angelic harmonies. Being Pittsburgh’s great pride for years, they are an absolute delight to listen to and see.
