American Wedding: Unrated DVD

The greatest installment of the “American Pie” series has been released on DVD. Due to the extended bachelor party scene that the studio made the buying focal point, “American Wedding” is a quality DVD for any collection.
“American Wedding” is the highlight film for the character Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott). The DVD keeps this idea going as one of the special features in a segment titled “Stifler Speak.” In this feature, Adam Herz, the writer of all three “Pie” films, talks about how he created the Stifler character and how easy it is to talk like him.
In the segment are series of takes in which Stifler spouts off at the mouth with obscenities that would make a sailor blush. And after watching the segment, any admirer of Stifler can proceed to make up his or her own Stifler Speak and use it like it’s going out of style.
Another humorous special feature is one of the “unrated exclusives” called “Grooming the Groom.”
This segment deals with the infamous shaving scene, starring Jim (Jason Biggs). Many people worked on that single scene, from the props guys to the special effects guy, and they take you deep behind the scenes. As a viewer, you get the whole scoop behind the shave.
The other ‘unrated exclusive’ special feature goes behind the scenes of the bachelor party scene. Led behind the scenes by Nikki Ziering – playing Officer Krystal – and Adam Herz, you get a chance to see the thinking that went on behind the scene. You find out they wanted to do much more than what was seen in the theater.
They took most of that extra footage and inserted it in the unrated version, including a scene where Stifler is sweet-talking an inflatable doll. Then, you see Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) dressed as a French maid.
The extended bachelor party scene is humorous, but it’s set up in a jumbled manner. It doesn’t flow well together – a reason that it was removed from theaters.
The bachelor party scene is just a small piece of the pie for this DVD, since the outtakes, deleted scenes and special behind-the-scenes footage make this DVD worth buying.
