Sneering baldo Billy Corgan has announced that he’s going into the studio soon to work on material with yet another band, called Djali Zwan. NME reported last week that this “new” band will feature all the same people as Zwan, but will be more folk-focused and stuff. This, apparently, makes Djali Zwan a completely different band.

“Chicago” producers to remake “Footloose”

Reuters reported last week that movie producers Craig Zagan and Neil Meron (see: “Chicago”) have been penciled in to reinvent “Footloose” as a complete musical. Do I smell a Kevin Bacon shower scene?

50 Cent book in the works

As if raking in millions for his debut album, Get Rich or Die Trying, wasn’t enough, MTV reported earlier this week that 50 Cent is shopping his bio around to various publishers, hoping to make something in “the high six figures” for it. The working title is “Number One with Nine Bullets.” I didn’t make that up.

The music industry targets downloaders abroad

Reuters reported this week that the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, in representing all of humongloid record labels, has recently begun sprinkling anti-piracy propaganda over universities in pretty much every continent besides ours. The IFPI attests that file-sharers are responsible for clogging Internet lines and for the lagging of record sales. The pamphlets and brochures being distributed are likely to change things. Hell, it worked for marijuana. Right?

Avril covers Dylan for war comp

As her contribution to War Child: Hope, a compilation that will benefit Iraqi children, teen idol Avril Lavigne will do a rendition of Bob Dylan’s classic, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” Lavigne’s effort will surely rank high on the list of crappy-ass, blasphemous, ungodly covers. NME reported that other contributors to the compilation include David Bowie, Spiritualized and George Michael. They, however, will not be butchering Dylan songs.
