Not enough cash? Do Valentine’s Day for less, regardless of your tastes

I can solve both problems with events that are perfect for those with or without a significant other.
If you have a date this V-Day, you could wow them by renting a Blockbuster favorite and picking up the deal of an Antoon’s pizza, which will run you about $8 total.
But let’s get a little romantic and creative here! Obviously you couldn’t afford to shell out $60-plus for roses, but you can do the next best thing – walk among the blooming blossoms lit by candlelight and completed with musical entertainment at Phipps. From 6 to 9 p.m. you can do just that, as part of its Valentine’s Day celebration. The Pitt ID gets you in for free. Up the romance factor frugally by purchasing a box o’ wine for later.
For you lonely souls, this is definitely not your idea of a good time on Valentine’s Day – the last thing you need is a reminder that you are dateless. Fear not, there is hope. Well, hope and live music. Venture on down to Hard Rock Cafe at Station Square to hear funk meet rock with Sho’Nuff, and DJ Yamez for just $10.
And remember, smooches are always free – with your date or the person you met at the rock show!
