A hard look and a hard sound help acts make it big in the music industry. For example, Saliva came into the music scene a few years ago with their debut album, Every Six Seconds, filled with semi-heavy songs such as “Click, Click Boom” and “Your Disease.” Saliva appeared heavy enough to make the band big; both songs were very radio friendly and received major airplay.

Now they are back with their second release, Back Into Your System, led by their first single “Always,” another semi-heavy song just right for the radio. They do pull off the hard look, wearing all black and sporting long, jet-black hair.

Josie Scott, the lead singer, helped claim more fame for the band when he teamed up with Chad Kroeger of Nickleback for the hit song “Hero,” off the Spiderman Soundtrack. With all of this radio airplay and hit songs flowing from their albums, it’s no wonder Saliva has become such a success, almost overnight.

Saliva will bring an arsenal of hit songs to Pittsburgh when they play Metropol tonight for an all ages show. Theory of a Dead Man, a Kroeger discovery, is also on the bill. With a clean rock sound filled with emotion and great lyrics, Theory of a Dead Man are set to rock the stage promoting their self-titled debut album. Audiovent will also be there tearing up the stage their own way, promoting their debut album, Dirty Sexy Nights in Paris.

Those up for a little rock can satisfy their craving with this treat of a show at Metropol. And, as Saliva would say, there’s not going to be any “crying-ass bitching” at this show.
