So it’s Homecoming weekend, and fireworks and football aren’t your thing? And you’re broke? Let’s see what I can do.
Tomorrow night on the North Side from 7 p.m. to midnight, Ground Zero will host Masquerade Ball Flux No. 8, a gallery of work done by artists in various genres. There will be performance art, live bands, disk jockeys, visual art, sculpture, photography and more.
Every few months or so, Ground Zero’s Flux project is held in a nontraditional venue in various communities around Pittsburgh. Past Flux shows have been held in Friendship, East Liberty, Homestead, Downtown, Friendship and on the South Side.
Flux No. 8 will take place in what was the Old Allegheny Social Hall and future site of Photo Antiquities, Pittsburgh’s Museum of Photographic History.
Featured artists for this show include sculptor Thad Mosley, musician Geoff Patterson, photographer Sandra Staas, Dance Alloy, Cap Gun Quartet, Sahara Dance Troup, The New Yinzer and many more.
Penn Brewery, brewer of Penn Pilsner beer, is one of the sponsors of this event. If you are at least 21, make sure you bring your ID, as you can drink for free during the event.
Cost is $7, or you can bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the food pantry at the Northside Commons Ministry and pay a mere $5.
Of age or underage, there is enough going on here to satisfy your artistic tastes and keep you busy this Homecoming weekend.
