According to Deborah Walker, the community relationship crime officer at Pitt, the summer season is the most common time for criminals to steal bicycles. Eleven bicycles were reported missing between May 1 and June 21 last year.
This year, Pitt police and the students it serves are taking extra precautions. From May 10 to June 11, only two bike thefts have been reported.
