Henry S. Scharpenberg, former chief of staff for the recently disbanded U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century, said that the commission was right.
At a lecture on national security yesterday in the Masonic Temple, Scharpenberg discussed the key findings, objectives and recommendations of the commission. The council separated in July, when a federal government provision allowing for its formation expired.
Scharpenberg said that the national security commission focused on three primary goals: to describe the world in societal, technological and economic terms, to define a national security strategy appropriate to the world and to assess existing security structures and recommend changes.
He said that the key findings of the group
