Easing fears that the stock prices will plummet as soon as the U.S. markets reopen, European… Easing fears that the stock prices will plummet as soon as the U.S. markets reopen, European financial markets stabilized Wednesday and world economic leaders vowed to limit the financial fallout from the World Trade Center tragedy.
New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso said that bond trading would resume today but the stock market would remain closed at least one more day.
Reopening the markets as quickly as possible is intended to reassure investors that Tuesday’s deadly terrorist attacks on the nation’s military and financial command centers won’t become an economic disaster.
