This coin, the latest attempt to introduce a metallic form of the basic unit of our currency, features the Shoshone Indian Sacajawea, who helped guide Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to the Pacific Ocean in the early 19th century.

Although other customers used dollar coins in the past, I never bothered to ponder them before this occasion. But this was a slow day.

The customer and I both commented on how nice it was to see a Native American
