HANNA HANNESDOTTIR, MIDFIELDER, WOMEN’S SOCCER-
After a solid freshman campaign in 2014 in which she started the Panthers’ final 12 games, Hannesdottir finally connected on her first goal of 2015 in dramatic fashion. The score by the Pitt midfielder came via an extra time penalty kick in the 99th minute of Sunday’s match against Syracuse. The goal gave Pitt their 10th win of the season, and improved their record to 4-2 in the ACC. They next take the field on Friday in South Carolina whenas they take on the Clemson Tigers at 7 p.m.
MATT GALAMBOS, LINEBACKER, FOOTBALL-
Galambos wreaked havoc on Virginia on Saturday’s homecoming game against the Cavaliers. Galambos’ biggest play came with over 11 minutes left in the third quarter, when he jumped in front of a Matt Johns’ pass and picked it off, nearly reaching the end zone on a 51-yard return. He also finished with two sacks on the afternoon, accounting for 15 yards lost, and finished with five total tackles. The Panthers improved to 4-1 after the win, and will take on Georgia Tech in Atlanta Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
