With nearly 700 student organizations, Pitt features clubs that serve a variety of interests, from writing letters as random acts of kindness to visiting immigrant-owned restaurants around Pittsburgh.
Pitt’s Staff Council spent their June meeting discussing the possibility of a flexible work model as Pitt returns to in-person instruction in the fall, as well as announcing new officers and reflecting on the council’s accomplishments over the last four years.

Pitt’s Staff Council spent their June meeting discussing the possibility of a flexible work model as the University returns to in-person instruction in the fall, as well as announcing new officers and reflecting on the council’s accomplishments over the last four years.
The Oakland Planning and Development Corp. held a public meeting Tuesday night to discuss neighborhood developments, including a proposal to demolish and refurbish the current Croatian Fraternal Union located on 3441 Forbes Avenue.

After severe damage to the structural integrity of the Croatian Fraternal Union building, a Pitt official discussed the University’s plan to demolish the building and salvage parts of its facade for the sake of historical preservation.

According to a petition, the houses at 3401-3421 Bates St. and 392 Coltart Ave. near Boulevard of the Allies are a “public nuisance” due to their dilapidated and uninhabited state.

Pitt students, faculty and staff who are vaccinated against COVID-19 are now eligible to receive prizes, including up to $2,500 in cash. The University added that there are no plans to require COVID-19 vaccinations to be on campus this fall.

Pa. House Democrats introduced a bill that would prohibit public employers like Pitt from spending taxpayer money on union avoidance. But while Pitt has spent $2M on a “union avoidance” law firm, a Pitt spokesperson said none of that money came from taxpayers.

The panel “Black Emancipation: A History of Celebration” on Tuesday afternoon focused on Black emancipation throughout history and the ways in which Americans have taken to celebrate and commemorate such history through Juneteenth.
The committee approved a flat distribution rate from the University’s endowment this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Investment Committee of Pitt’s Board of Trustees voted at a public meeting Thursday morning to keep the spending policy and distribution from the University’s endowment funds the same in the 2022 fiscal year.
While the CDC said fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear face coverings in most indoor settings, some people are nervous about removing their masks.
