Pitt Student Government Board president Eric Macadangdang began the board’s Tuesday evening meeting by naming each of the eight Atlanta shooting victims — six of them being women of Asian descent.

Two Pitt alumni — Greg Heller-LaBelle, who graduated in 2006, and Brett Taylor, who graduated in 1999 — own their own breweries after starting out as home brewers.
Gene Ney runs Gene’s Place — a bar located on Louisa Place. Ney has only sold takeout cocktails, drafts and other specials for the past few months, but on April 4, he plans to open the bar again at a limited capacity.

Although “Bring Your Child to Work Day” is officially April 22, many professors and students who are parents have been bringing their kids to work just about every day since the COVID-19 pandemic began last year.
According to the American Psychological Association, 22% of people reported binge drinking in February 2020, compared to 27% in April 2020.

Pitt added eight new COVID-19 cases, composed of six students and two employees, between last Friday and Monday, with 39 students currently in isolation.

Each year The Pitt News conducts “Best Of” surveys in which students can vote on the “best” things, people and places around campus. This year, the title of “Best RA” was awarded to junior Allie Staman.
More than 200 protesters marched through Oakland on Friday afternoon during a climate strike rally, urging climate justice and fossil fuel divestment. Organized by Sunrise Movement Pittsburgh, the protest started on Flagstaff Hill before protesters walked to the Cathedral of Learning.

More than 200 protesters marched through Oakland on Friday afternoon urging climate justice and fossil fuel divestment. The group chanted, “Divest. Protect. Rebuild” and, “Hey hey, ho ho, fossil fuels have got to go.”
Around 300 people gathered Saturday afternoon at the corner of Forbes and Oakland avenues.
